Sue Carter

Sue CarterSue background is in nursing and social work and she was subsequently an employee counsellor for 15 years, working in large public sector organisations including The London Fire Brigade, The Royal London Hospital and The London Borough of Enfield. During this time she worked with individuals from all levels of the organisation experiencing personal and work-related difficulties and with groups of staff, focussing on communication, support, team-building and development and facilitating de-briefings after traumatic incidents.

Sue trained as a coach with the Coaches Training Institute and has worked with a wide variety of individual clients. She also runs coaching skills training courses for managers and staff in the public, private and voluntary sectors. She also runs courses in supervision skills, customer care, communication skills and coping with change. Sue’s approach to facilitation and training is informed by her experience as a coach and person centred counsellor. She aims to create a learning environment that is safe enough to allow for support and challenge. She has a facilitative ‘coach approach’ and believes in enabling participants to learn in a way that is empowering; building on their strengths and capabilities while enabling them to develop new skills and gain new insights and perspectives.

Since founding Carter Hall Associates with Jan Hall, Sue has jointly designed and facilitated numerous bespoke Action Learning interventions. She has also facilitated AL Sets for clients including Devon County Council, Devon Partnership Trust and the Devon School of Social Entrepreneurs.
