Action Learning: Facilitator Skills
(2- and 3-day Workshops)

Action Learning Sets have many applications: creative problem solving, manager support, project development, change management.

Action learning also enables participants to introduce their teams to coaching skills. It is therefore an excellent way to develop a coaching culture within the organisation.

Suitable for: Specifically for people employed within the public, private and the not-for-profit sectors who have some training or facilitation experience, this workshop covers action learning set theory, format and skills. No previous knowledge of action learning is required.

In this highly practical course you will learn:

  • Action learning theory and practice
  • The skills necessary to be an effective action learning facilitator
  • How to use action learning with a group or team
  • The format used for successful action learning meetings or ‘sets’
  • Applications of action learning: problem solving, action planning
  • How to create and maintain a learning environment
You will spend part of the course working in a Set, gaining practice and confidence as a facilitator and experiencing each of the different Set roles. You will receive helpful feedback on your facilitation skills from Sue and Jan, the course trainers, and from your fellow participants.

PLEASE NOTE:
The 2-day version of this course is a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of action learning facilitation, with an emphasis on practising the skills. The 3-day course includes additional material on facilitating Sets in an organisational context and the additional content is tailored for your organisational needs.

The 3-day version of this course is ILM (Institute for Leadership and Management) approved and delegates have the option to study for an ILM Development Award. If you would like more details, please contact us.
